Death Note is a manga that my second cousin (not Animal) introduced to me at a funeral.... I was sad of course but I didn't know my aunt that well... So, I rode in her parents car (This was the first time I ever met her) without her in it -.- But of course, I had to make myself known to my "cousins" (They're like 40..Fathers cousins.) So we eventually came upon the topic of manga somehow... So, at the wake, I struck up a vaguely awkward conversation with her... I said I liked Naruto and Inuyasha.. I was brutally yelled at... So I asked her what She liked.. Well, she named them.. I hadnt heard of any! So, I ask her her favorite.. Lo and Behold, it was Death Note.. (never heard of it) So, I promised to read the first two volumes to get a feel for it.. It was amazing.. It will be and is my favorite manga eva! Unfortunately, the series ended 2 days ago, witgh volume 12.. Fortunately for you, You need not wait a year and a half to continue the series 0.0 That was precursor to my brief description of the series...
Well, Death Note is about a seventeen year old japanese boy. His name is Light.. or Raito for you purists.. He has just graduated high school with perfect marks, a considerable feat..(duh) Well, he leaving the school for the last time when he sees a notebook lying on the street... He decides to do over to it and pick it up. He reads is and it is blank! The cover of the notebook says the words, "Death Note." *For those who are familiar with Japanese culture, their grim reaper isn't what we think of it.. The Japanese have Gods of Death, proper name Shinigami. They need not have skulls for heads and they most certainly do not have Scythes... They use Death Notes..* "The human whose name is written in the Death Note will die." That is the basic rule of the Death Note.. Light reads that rule and writes it off as a joke.. Later that night, Light is watching T.V. A breaking news report says that a man has taken some children hostage.. Light decides to see if the criminal dies when his name is written down...
What fun would it be if I told you the entire story! None! So, I plead of you, read this astonishing manga and be reading by the seat of your pants.. As I read the final chapters, my heart rate was going about 100 BPM.. All I can say it it is amazing!
