Hope Never Dies
I just went over Slyguy's house. I didn't get to try his Wii, but Wii got to sii Eragon in theaters. This is my review of it.

Voice Acting - 8/10: Everyone sounded pretty well done with the exception of Sapphira. Her voice sounded to young, and didn't seem to fit my idea of a dragon. Eragon sounded proper for his age, and Brom's voice was really cool. I wish that I'd stayed for the credits to see who played him.....

Acting - 8/10: Not really too bad. Eragon was very annoying most of the time, but otherwise, well done. They acted what was on their scripts well, too bad the scripts weren't that good.....

Story - 3.5/10: This is the part that killed the movie. I have read the book, and I loved it. That is the reason why I bothered to even see this movie. The story from the book was butchered completely, and it really p***** me off. They skipped over multiple major parts of the story, and many of the parts they kept were jumbled up or utterly destroyed. I won't spoil much, but since they moved abruptly from random place to random place, I was whispering to Slyguy the whole time: "Wow! a random hill!" or "Wow! a random stream!" This was beyond dissapointing. This butcher job was almost as bad as what they did to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Very dissapointing indeed............O yeah. The end of it made no sense whatsoever

Characters - 7/10: I expected the characters to be much different.....I thought Eragon had slightly darker hair, and that Arya would have black hair, I couldn't see if her ears were pointed, and that
she would be unconsious for a great part of the movie, like in the book.
Brom though, was exactly how I previously imagined to be...Uncle Garrow I think looked too young.....but again, that's my opinion.....The Ra'zac were far from what I thought that they looked like from the book's description........and the Urgals were supposed to have giant horns, and look more like Orcs. They looked like humans that had moles on their heads, and that had too much to drink, because their eyes lookes bloodshot.

Special Effects - 8.5/10: The fire looked REALLY cool. a giant blue flame. WOW. and the "dragon vision" was really cool too. Though, I don't understand why it had a wierd yellow tint... The effects of Durza's magic were boring, and didn't look impressive at all. I wish that they used more special effects, it might've helped the movie out. It DEFINATELY could have used and explosion or two.....

Book to Movie comparison: This movie is not well related to the book. Everything in the book flowed well, and the movie did not. The movie cut out too many parts of the book which were vital to the story to be a successful venture in this case. The reviews say that this movie is highly overrated, and I agree with them fully after seeing it. Which leads me to say.......

Overall - 5.5/10: This movie severly dissapointed me. I was not at all impressed, and it irritates me greatly that someone took a great story, and annihilated utterly. The only good thing about seeing this movie, is that I can say that I saw it, and am not just basing this review off any other review. I hope to god that Eldest will be better.....:(

I dont want to read the review because I want to go see the movie but i've heard that it is bad for people who have read it and good for people who havent read it. I read the book so i am not too excited about watching this movie, yet i will still see it :)

K, I'll edit it then, I've never made a movie review, so I think I did pretty well for not really knowing what topics to choose.

Like I said im not gonna read it until after i watch it but considering it's the first movie review we've ever had.. it's obviously the best movie review we've ever had.

Thanks for the compliment :D I am happy that I got to see it, and I'm happy that Slyguy and I were able to hang out. Actually, it wasn't a waste of time after all. If Slyguy weren't there though, it would have been...We had a lot of fun criticising the movie, and making snide comments to each other about it while it was playing. It was also fun complaining to each other about what parts we really wanted to see, and how they were either messed up, or not even in it...:D

P.S. For those who have seen the movie: I added a poll to this review. :)

The movie was fine, but many details were taken out completely (Urgal Horns, Hurst, Katrina, Elva, Saphira's Blue Fire, Arya's final attack and coma, and ALL of Jeod and the Sea). Also, they took way to many liberties (moved Angela, Had Saphira grow from a baby to a full fledged dragon in literally three seconds, Durza's Beast, Deaths, and Murtagh was almost completely taken out of action and sense).

heh

im not even going to watch it because of what all my friends have told me...lol

annonymous friend-''Hey, are you still planning on seeing Eragon?
dj- "um, yeah....why?''
friend-'' well because, i went to see it, and it was really bad....if you see it, you'll want to slit your wrists....

so i believe ill just stick to the books...

Oh, and the guy who played Brom was Jeremy Irons.
If you've seen the Lion King, he played Scar :)

wow cool :)

I almsot always reserve judgement until I see the actual movie, but from the time I saw the cast pics in September, I had a bad feeling about Eragon. Brom is the olny thing they got remotely correct. I mean, seriously. It's like the producers aren't even planning on a future movie. If Katrina's never mentioned, why would Roran go through the Spine in Eldest? If Jeod doesn't exist, who helps Roran later in Teirm? And lastly, WHAT THE **** WAS UP WITH MURTAGH!

That is all for now.

Yeah, in the movie, Murtagh actually DOESN'T hate the Varden, and is fine going in, and the battle of Farthen Dur is right after Eragon and Murtagh arrive.

This, my friends, is exactly my point. The chain of lost and forgotten events, will lead to an awkward and abrupt introduction to these things in Eldest. Unless they cut it out of that too...that would take out over half of the story....

I went to the theatre the other day and they werent playing it so i saw night at the museum... I did get the videogame for the DS for christmas and its surprisingly fun but the story is so screwed up. It obviously follows the movie and if this is what the movie is like... -_-
