2007 MLB All-Star Game

The Mid-Summer Classic has come and gone in spectacular fashion, with the American League's All-star winning streak holding strong, now at nine games.

The National League got out to a quick start in the bottom of the first, quickly scoring a run. Later, in the fifth inning, Ichiro Suzuki came to the plate, and lined one deep. No it was not gone, but he did end up with the first inside the park home run in All-Star game history, bringing the AL up, 2-1. In the sixth, Carl Crawford hit a solo shot to bring the AL to 3-1. For the NL, Griffey hit Beltran in, to make it 3-2. Then in the eighth, with the AL at bat, anothe guy (Martinez) hit a 2 run homer to bring the AL up further to 5-2. In the ninth, with 2 outs, Dimitri Young gets on after a bobble by Brian Roberts, and Alfonzo Soriano belted a 2 run shot to bring the NL back into the game, 5-4, but it was too late, and the AL finished off the NL, 5-4.

Ichiro was named MVP, and the win went to Beckett, loss to C. Young, and F. Rodriguez* (I think) got the save.

Yeah... he got the save even though he walked the first two batters... -_-

I think it's incredibly stupid that "this one counts".... what do you think on that?

Oh and I also find it incredibly stupid that the MVP wins a car when Ichiro already has all the money in the world...

The car is stupid, yes, but Chevy must have paid a ton for that kind of advertisement. It's all about the money...I'm just happy that the AL won...

As for my opinion on the "this one counts", I have never liked it. It should always have been just alternating each year...and at this rate, we'll never see home-field advantage with the NL

I think the real debate here is why Tony LaRussa didn't pinch hit for Aaron Rowand, with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth, when Albert Pujols was still on the bench. LaRussa may have cost the NL the game, and could have brought dignity to the league that has lost eleven consecutive All-Star Games. As for Ichiro and the MVP, Chevy has given the MVP's a different car every year. Miguel Tejada won a Corvette in 2005, and Michael Young an Avalanche in 2006.

It's not like Tony Larussa cares considering his Cardinals don't have much of a chance at the pennant this year...

(btw- Albert Pujols and Aaron Rowand are both batting .310 ^_^)

If LaRussa didn't care why would he try to lose? He would still get criticized.

(And yes, if your trying to say Aaron Rowand is as good as Albert Pujols, you couldn't be more wrong)
