Death Note Book 1-6 *Spoilers*

Sage in Training
I have the whole week off so I'm probably going to start reading death note again. So can someone explain to me the story line of book 1-6 because i forgot what happened and I dont feel like rereading it. A brief summary would be fine, it would all come back to me as I read it.

I read it and loved it, up until...
Misa comes into the story. It started getting wierder and wierder after that... But it committed suicide to me when...
L dies. He was the coolest guy... Then the story gets ridiculousty off-track even FURTHER from when Misa joined, by adding in two more jolly retards who made it suck more: Near and Mello.

So yeah. I thought it was brilliant, but then it just got worse and worse...;_;

I remember watching the last episode:

...After Mikami and Light screw up by miscalculating the fake deathnote thing, I thought, "Light... You fool! YOU LOST!" But he just stood there... silently. Then it happened, "Wow, Light, you are taking this well. I would have thought that-" Light gets this look on his face, "-Oh, there it goes..." And he goes insane! What a sad way to end a great series...

I am told by a few sources that the anime remains almost perfectly faithful to the manga save for the ending.
In the anime, Light runs from the warehouse after being shot, but in the manga Near delivers an extended 'you lose' monologue at the end of which Ryuk whispers in Light's ear to turn around. Light does so, and sees Ryuk holding his death note with Yagami Light written in it. Light then gives a few choice words (I am a god! I cannot die!), then dies. There's also some speculation by Matsuda as to how Near was working with Mello and if L planned the entire thing, including his own death. Finally, Misa's fate is left unknown

It was a good series. when I finished it, I felt this strange empty feeling/sadness inside of me. as if part of me died because the series was over and because of the ending. I wished I was like Light. but it was over. and I felt the ending was coming for us all really soon.

I love Death Note

L's death was the worst part of the manga. After that, Light just turned from somewhat likeable to psychotic. And as annoying as Misa was, Takada was worse.
