Smash Bros News

GAH! Get back to the stuff we don't know instead of stuff we do know ...

today's update was the color change.

Today was about charged special moves, and Lucas' Final Smash, which looks pretty friken awesome.

Does anyone feel this game might be overly complicated? They made Super Smash as a game where different game characters could just beat the **** out of each other nice and smoothly, but this is starting to look more like Soul Calibur (WAAAAAY too complicated, with all the combos, different character moves, kick vert hor attacks, and getting like an entirely new set of moves by charging the green thing).

I don't. Each character gets their version of the basic set of physical moves, four special moves, and one super. Sure, there are more differences, but they are all in the same vein for a character, such as Link, who has good variety of ranged and strong melee attacks, but is slow. Each character has a unifying theme that ties their abilities together.

...I don't know, Nintendo better not blow this.

They won't. And Versac's right, the characters don't have any more moves then they did in past games with the exception of the final smash moves. It's really not that much like a fighter game. I mean, it's not like they have "A-down, left-B for a super kick" type of combo. They kept it simple.

Agreed, Nintendo sells smash by always following a very simple formula.
  1. Nintendo characters kill each other
  2. It's simple to pull of awesome moves
  3. Every battle has something to make someone scream "OH SNAP!"
A very simple formula really, number one being altered a bit. Seriously though, Final Smashes can only make the game better.

Oh man.... Today's update was the part of Melee that I was horrible at! The Events. I could never do half of them.

Oh man! Today's update was the part of Melee that I was awsome at! The Events! Let's hope for 201 this time!

Heh. Different stroke for different folks, I guess. The Events this time seem to be more diverse though, as some of the examples are completely non-combat objectives.

I have to say, some of these events look pretty cool.

How much does everyone want to bet that there is an event featuring about, say, fifty smashballs.:D

Oh god... That would be interesting indeed. Yesterday and today were the best updates in a while in my opinion, yesterday obviously being the return of Events, today being the return of a few select past stages. The one announced being my favorite:

The Temple.

WOOO! Return of the Fight Club! Let the pain recompense!

*Note to all non-hardcore melee players: the Fight Club is the underground portion in the lower-left part of the Temple where is is ridiculously hard to die without >200% damage.

:) :) :) :) :)

My favorite stage of all time!

Thank you Nintendo, thank you.

(Now if you could only bring back Falco (PLEASE!))

I know, it's really rather sad, especially since they've resorted to reporting on things we already know as to prevent spoiling major portions of the game... :D
