Subtle as a Ninja Pirate!
Since no one is gonna get my trivia-riddle right the answer is that during World War I, not World War II, a soldier had a wounded Corporal Adolf Hitler in his sights, but thought it unchivalrous to kill a wounded foe. Ironic, considering the same soldier was killed in WWII.

The Butler said he was getting the mail.
The Maid said she was cleaning his room.
The Cook said he was cooking dinner.
