Well, we generally do not endorse non-Zelda games unless they are Nintendo produced or are outstandingly popular, however today we hold an exception. I’m not certain how many of you are familiar with the game Okami, although I’m certain you will become far more familiar with it over the course of this short news post. Okami was originally a PS2 exclusive which essentially runs on the same game style that The Legend of Zelda does. Not too long ago Okami took the first place position in IGN’s Game of the Year awards, Twilight Princess coming in a rather close second. However, Okami greatly underperformed in sales selling, to date, only around 270,000 units worldwide since its September 2006 release. This was obviously not an indication of a bad game, it just came out at the wrong time *right on the heals of the PS3* and to the wrong crowd of gamers.
So, after a great deal of petitioning and such, Capcom agreed to publish Okami for the Wii. If you have a bit of time you can read IGN’s article on their remarkable struggle to get everything transferred over. Okami will be released on April 15th here in the US for the low price of $40 *the same price as a Nintendo DS game*. So, why am I throwing this up? Well, despite what a few people that have E-Mailed me believe, Zelda fans enjoy more titles than those from the Legend of Zelda library, and Okami has a very similar game style to that of Zelda *and hence, should enjoy it*. Above all else though Capcom needs this game to sell. Large sales number will encourage further support from Capcom in the hard-core department *despite how the game looks, I think it’s pretty obvious from the whole plays like a Zelda game comparison it’s a hard core game* as well as the creativity aspects of their games. So, do yourselves a favor and don’t act as a scrooge to society on April 15th and pick up a copy, I know I will :).
