Effective August 12, 2011 Nintendo of America will be cutting the price of the Nintendo 3DS from $249.99 to $169.99. The cut so early in the release cycle is likely due to lackluster sales for a Nintendo handheld. In addition, to appease those who have already purchased or will purchase a 3DS before the August 12th price cut date, Nintendo of America will be enrolling all 3DS owners who connect to the Nintendo EShop prior to the 12th into the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program which will entitle each registrant to 10 free Virtual Console NES games and 10 free Game Boy Advance VC games (which Nintendo states will be released only for ambassadors and not to the general public). The NES titles sport what many likely already have in one form or another (Balloon fight, Legend of Zelda, etc), but the GBA games to be released are absolute classics such as Metroid Fusion and Mario Kart Super Circuit.
