The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Review

There are few games, if any, within the annals of history that can compete with the illustrious legacy held by The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. From its massive, immersive overworld, to it revolutionary interface, Ocarina of Time established itself as the archetypal model for not only the future of the series itself, but as a cornerstone in the development of the 3D Action/Adventure genre we so enjoy today. Ocarina of Time has penetrated gaming culture and inspired some of the most valiant acts of fandom the gaming community has ever seen. It is considered by many to be a flawless experience; one of the best games of all time. Its notoriety has gained itself multiple reappearances in recent years in the form of future generation console ports, aimed at kindling the flame for its faithful follows as well as introducing itself to those who might have missed it the first time around. This time, however, things are different. With the new technologies and innovations of the Nintendo 3DS as a palette, Nintendo has gone back to the drawing board with the venerated classic in an attempt to improve upon perfection. With updated visuals, stereoscopic 3D, and a revamped control scheme, has Nintendo succeeded in renewing its most treasured possession, or has it befallen the fate of many other remakes and failed to warrant its existence? Lets find out!

Skyward Sword, This TIme with Music

So, I can’t take credit for finding this little beauty, ZU deserves that.  However, I thought I’d post it here for all of you to enjoy.  GamePro did a great feature on Skyward Sword that emphasizes the sound of the gameplay.  The did a pretty good job of isolating the game music and sounds, really showing off the orchestration Miyamoto spoke about during the 2011 Press Conference.  My only comment, as far tas the music, is the Bird Flight minigame sounds as if it’s still using midi (it’s more likely than not an orchestral version of that song has not been recorded yet, or maybe the little bits of show floor sound that snuck in are masking the tone).  Don’t worry about the Dutch.  Once the demo actually begins, all speaking stops.  Either way, enjoy!

*If you don’t want to be spoiled, don’t watch this broadcast.  It includes parts of the demo not shown in most of the the demo commentaries.

Nintendo 3DS eShop Update

To all those who own a 3DS and have recently updated their system’s firmware to 2.0, the eShop application is now up and running, allowing you to download games as well as view information and trailers (in full 3D no less). For Zelda fans, Nintendo has been quite kind, already providing content in the form of a classic game and a new trailer.

Zelda Skyward Sword Will Hit this Holiday! Wii U Announced! New Super Smash Bros. For Wii U and 3DS

Two quick, yet incredible exciting announcements!

1. Firstly and quite simply, Miyamoto announced that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will hit this holiday season for the Nintendo Wii.

2. Nintendo has finally announced the successor to the Wii, named Wii U! Much more on this later, but it is all about the controller and how it will change the way we play, with its 6 in screen, built in camera, mic, gyroscope and accelerometer. Oh, and the graphics  of the system are INCREDIBLE!!! As a demo, they showed a scene of a Twilight Princess Link being ambushed in what looked to be the Temple of Time by Goma both on the TV and controller.

3. A new Super Smash Bros. is in development for the Wii U and 3DS!!!

Expect a full update on all the E3 news later today!!!
